BAKER DEVELOPMENT STRIKES FIRST IN HOT LINCOLN PARK OFFICE MARKET

Chicago based developer Baker Development Corporation has completed it’s purchase of the former Stawski Distributors building at 2017 N. Mendell in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The firm’s redevelopment plans include transformation of the former loft warehouse building into a new, 4-story, 65,000 s.f., state-of-the-art office environment designed to attract today’s creative companies eager to tap into the tech-rich labor pool residing in Ukranian Village, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Lincoln Park and other close-by neighborhoods. The building is located on the west bank of the Chicago River one block east of both the Kennedy Expressway Armitage exit and the Clybourn Metra station. Construction on the conversion has already commenced and occupancy is scheduled for October 2016. Leasing is being handled by Matthew Ward and Melissa Porcelli of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.

“We’re excited about transforming this former loft warehouse into a true high performance office asset” said Daniel Slack, of Chicago-based Baker Development Corporation. Slack also noted; “We’re equally enthusiastic about being the first redeveloped high-tech office building to be occupied within the rapidly evolving Finkl Steel redevelopment area”.

Designed by the renowned architectural firm MRSA, the building will feature a fourth floor addition, an expansive glass and curtain wall exterior, approximately 20,000 s.f. floor plates, up to 12’ ceiling heights, 60 parking spaces, all new mechanical systems and a roof-top terrace.
